Trauma Recovery With Canine Compassion
Paws. Take a breath. This is the beginning of your trauma recovery. If you have come to this website, you have taken an important step in healing your trauma. Whether you choose to work with one of our clinicians or you enjoy the information on our website, our goal is to encourage empowerment for healing. Interested? Check out some of the key things we offer below.
Trauma Treatment
Our practice is dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by trauma—whether stemming from childhood, a single event, or ongoing exposure. Our clinicians are extensively trained in evidence-based trauma modalities, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and integrative approaches. At Paws2Heal, we specialize in working with first responders, as well as individuals with complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and attachment-related challenges. We take pride in staying current with the most research-supported therapies to ensure that every treatment plan is personalized and effective.
Internships and Residency
We are currently accepting qualified clinical interns and residents. Please see our For Clinicians page for details!
Paws2Heal would be nothing without the healing aid of our wonderful therapy dogs. While research indicates that dogs can have a remarkable influence on mental health recovery, one of their most powerful skills is their ability to help people take a moment to pause. Have you ever been crazy busy and encountered a social, happy dog? If you are a dog lover, most likely you stopped, no matter how busy, for just a moment to pet and acknowledge the dog. That is the work that our therapy dogs do within our practice. They empower our clients to pause, even for a moment, deepening the impact of the therapeutic experience.
Effective trauma therapy demands a deep understanding of the physiological responses occurring within the body. Every mental health diagnosis is rooted in biological processes—many of which are adaptive responses essential for survival. Our clinicians work with you to uncover what’s happening in your body on a physiological level and guide you through evidence-based treatments designed to reduce distressing symptoms. We offer a range of specialized modalities, including:
